Grandma’s Peach Cobbler

Ingredients:

1 stick unsalted butter
1 cup all-purpose flour
1/2 cup granulated sugar
1/2 cup light brown sugar
1 tablespoon baking powder
1/8 teaspoon of salt
1 cup milk
4 cups fresh peach slices
1 tablespoon lemon juice
1tsp Vanilla extract
Ground cinnamon and/or nutmeg (optional)

Directions:

Preheat oven to 375° farenheit

Melt butter in a 13×9-inch baking dish or other approrpiately sized casserole style dish

Combine flour, the brown sugar, baking powder, and salt; add milk, stirring just until dry ingredients are moistened don’t over stir small clumps are okay.

Pour batter as evenly as possible over butter (do not stir).

Heat 1/2 cup sugar, peach slices, vanilla extract and lemon juice to just boiling over high heat, stirring constantly; remove as soon as it starts to boil then pour over batter (again, do not stir the crust will rise to the top as it bakes).

Sprinkle lightly with cinnamon and/or nutmeg, if desired.

Bake in preheated oven for 40 to 45 minutes or until crust has risen to the top and is a deep golden brown.

Best served a la mode (with vanilla ice cream).

This is a basic fruit cobbler recipe, just substitute 4 cups of whichever fruit you would like (peaches, blueberries, raspberries, blackberries, cherries, or strawberries.) Always use fresh and not canned with the recipe or it will be too soupy.
