Perfectly Baked Sweet Potatoes

How to perfectly bake a sweet potato.
Never coat your sweet potato in oil.
Never wrap your sweet potato in foil.
Never preheat your oven.

So what do you do?
Place a sheet foil in the bottom of your oven, careful not to cover any vents your oven may have. You only need to make sure the foil going to be in a spot under your potatoes. So no need to cover the entire bottom of the oven. *do not put it on the bottom rack but place directly on the oven floor.*

You prick your sweet potato 2-3 times with a fork.

Place potatoes directly on the center rack in the middle of the oven, above the foil.

Turn oven on to 425 degrees Fahrenheit.

Bake for 45 minutes for sweet potatoes that are 2 to 3 inches in diameter. For sweet potatoes that are larger in diameter, bake for an hour. For those JUMBO sized sweet potatoes, bake for an hour and 15 minutes.

After cooking time is up, turn oven off but DO NOT remove potatoes from oven yet; let them sit in the oven for about another half an hour and up to a full hour.

Remove from oven after they have sat, and enjoy with your favorite toppings. I like cinnamon butter on mine. I also have a recipe for the Texas Roadhouse Cinnamon butter copycat recipe .

Don’t forget to discard the foil from the bottom of your oven.
